Unlock the hidden power inside your dual-GPU laptop! A lot of laptops come with an integrated and a dedicated graphics card-a pair thatshouldwork together to produce smooth performance. But are you really taking full advantage of what they have to offer? Never settle for behind-the-scenes “fine.” I was that way until I discovered some optimizations that completely changed the game. Now is the time to get the maximum performance out of your laptop while practically seeing the transformation in graphical power.

Get the Latest Drivers For Both GPUs

Dual GPU laptop glitching? Driver updates are your lifeline. Think of your GPUs as an orchestra finely tuned; driver updates going out of sync are a dreadful noise. The newest drivers are essential for dual GPU setups, to make sure that both perform in perfect harmony and operate at the peak of performance. Grab yours now and watch the performance of the dual GPU setup!

Well forget about the driver hunt! The driver maker’s software does a whole lot more than just drivers; it’s your secret gem. You automatically get the correct driver, and now you can immerse yourself in the myriad options available for tuning up the performance and making that gaming experience uniquely your own.

  • NVIDIA GeForce Experience
  • NVIDIA Control Panel (for old laptops)
  • AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition
  • AMD Catalyst Control Center (for old laptops)
  • Intel Graphics Command Center
  • Intel Driver & Support Assistant (works on old laptops too)

Resigned to wrangling outdated drivers? Spit on the frustration! These software tools perform the unpleasantries and download the newest versions automatically. Another clean approach if you will: a dedicated driver updater software to do the job without the extra bloat thrown in there by the manufacturer. Prefer a visual? Give Priority to Dedicated GPU in Power Plan Settings

If you want to get the maximum out of your PC, that is! Fed up with slow performance? Often, Windows will juggle between your integrated graphics and dedicated graphics, because it weighs battery life against sheer power. You can take matters in your own hands! To really feel the smoothness and responsiveness, especially when running big-time games and applications, just tell the system to always use its dedicated GPU-the brute forpower. Want to try out its effect? Here is how:

In Windows Search, type “power plan” and openEdit power plan. Click onChange advanced power settings.

Got it, let me tweak that for you.

Let your laptop operate out of its hidden power! Go into Nvidia Optimus (or Switchable Dynamic Graphics) settings and select “Maximize performance.” Having trouble with charging? Concern about heating? You can always tone it down to “Optimize performance.” This will do wonders for a demanding app and still keep the temperature manageable.

Manually Select Which GPU is Used For an App

Suspecting lag to kill your immersion? Windowsthinksit knows best when assigning GPUs to applications. Unfortunately, it occasionally stumbles, and leaving your games sluggish on integrated graphics when they could have been roaring on your dedicated GPU. Go ahead, take control and force these applications to finally revel in all that graphical glory by gearing them up with the right GPU!

Manage Fan Speed Based on GPU Temperature

When you put your dedicated graphics card through strenuous tests, it gets hot! Most gaming laptops keep fan speeds tied merely to the CPU temperature, which leaves the GPU to silently bake away. Forget about that! When the GPU is the real hot one, crank those fans up according toitsown temperature. That’s my solution-those aggressive fans turned on by GPU temperature to combat thermal throttling.

Once SpeedFan manages to detect your laptop’s motors (and it usually does!), you then go to theConfigurearea of the program for ultimate control. Think of it as your laptop’s fan speed command center.

Ready to dominate thermal performance of your GPU? Click over to theFan Controltab and hitAddto create a new controller profile. Now, unlock this power! Inside the profile you just made, clickAddunderTemperaturesand select your dedicated GPU. Have fun with the custom cooling!

It’s time to take charge of your GPU cooling! Fine-tune the fan curve displayed on the right to unleash the cooling system’s full potential. I generally like to set my fans at full speed at 50 degrees Celsius for maximum cooling, but the choice is absolutely yours! Tweak a bit, and keep your rig cool and your play sizzling.

Disable Throttling to Avoid Bottlenecks

Thermal throttling the mortal enemy of devices equipped with discrete GPUs. There they are, trapped into cramped quarters with nowhere to expel heat, and all those precious performance gains go down the drain, with a frustrating slowdown speedily checking in. Now, presumably, the complete escape is impossible, but hey, you can still fight back! Often, the laptop will punish CPU throttling in tandem with GPU throttling when no such thing is warranted. The GPU is “hot,” but the CPU is perfectly fine: just let performance take a hit, and say goodbye to your graphics card! Do not let your laptop’s heat sensors betray your gaming or creative work!

Is your laptop throttling like a caged animal? Free it from such injustice by turning off the BD PROCHOT! ThrottleStop is your weapon. Just run the app; uncheck the box next to “BD PROCHOT”; hit Save. There you go: your laptop has been blatantly given three clicks of extra speed. Just remember to hit save or else the laptop remains chained.

This trick will fix one throttling issue, but your GPU might still be kept in check. Unleash full potential by checking out our ultimate guide to disableeverysingle form of laptop throttling.

Set loose God, that GPU’s potential! Go into Nvidia control panel or AMD software and find a treasure chest of settings. Take recommendations and please use features like Radeon Chill to lower temperatures and increase efficiency, making sure your graphics card stays super cool during stressful tasks.
