The Photoshop you love, unleashed on Android! Ditch that clunky browser workaround. Now, for the first time, there is an importable native app that allows you to use the power of the Photoshop toolkit and its familiar UI-even on the go. The best thing is that it is free, at least for the time being. Pick it up before it costs!

Photoshop for Android Still in Beta

Photoshop for Android? Well, not quite the full masterpiece yet. Adobe is releasing a beta version first, which is free on the Play Store. The catch? You are helping finalize the product! Consider it an early preview in exchange for crash reports, and your truly valuable feedback. Download it, play around, and assist Adobe with putting all that Photoshop might in your palms.

Translation: Expect some preliminary bumps. The complete and official app is expected to hit the stores later this year, knock on wood. Pricing, on the other hand, remains a mystery; is this going to be a premium buy, or will there be a gratis version still? Time will tell.

Getting Started With the Photoshop App

Kick-start the fun part! Open the app, choose to sign in or quickly make a free account. Are you already in the Adobe Creative Cloud family? Nice! Just sign in using your existing account, access all of your Photoshop masterpieces, and back up all future creations automatically in the cloud.

Editing Photos with Photoshop for Android

My photo editing arsenal is an offbeat combo. For simple and temperamental stuff-like crops, resizes, and the occasional AI experiment-the unsung hero would be MS Paint. But when I want to have some serious play with pixels, Photoshop comes into the picture. It keeps things smooth in the workflow. No more clunky transferrals across the desktop.

Without much ado, I jumped right in and picked a picture from my phone’s digital scrapbook. It reflected the slick and clean simplicity of the home screen interface-winning my heart instantly. Now, for the actual fun…

  • Tap the+to add or adjust layers
  • TapLayer propertiesto blend, distort, and create masks
  • TapSelect areato select and isolate (or delete) specific areas of your photo
  • UseRetouchto remove specific areas
  • TapSizeto adjust the size

Bugged out and calling: The phone lines are surely blocked for beta antics for now. But don’t let your eye slip! Adobe has a strange history of surprises. They could enable those features any day or even declare a whole new set of acts to gawk at. Stay tuned!

With a few clicks, I whisked my inquisitive feline Goldie out of stark reality! MySelect Areatool was truly a magic wand that blasted away the boring background. I then proceeded to create a whole new world for her, picking a bright stock image from Adobe treasure trove. Of course, you could just as well download from your computer, use pictures from a friend’s computer, or just snap a picture. The possibilities are endless!

Adding in Generative Fill

I was wielding the Lasso tool to draw a boundary around a mundane space, preparing it for digital alchemy. A single tap of the Generative Fill set the selected area alive with vigor. Every fill, a choice stroke, was finalized with a click of the checkmark.

Shall we set forth a little enchantment? Tap onGenerative Fill, speak your wishes into the prompt box (I imagined a tiny butterfly), and then hitGenerate. It is instantly there, on a separate layer, like a plaster you can easily move around or remove.

Using Generative Fill to add AI to photos.

My fingertip hovered over a kaleidoscope of virtual butterflies. Should I unleash a swarm of blues, or perhaps a delicate dance of painted ladies? In the end, a single monarch, small but vibrant, found its place upon my photo, a subtle whisper of summer. Of course, the canvas is yours – flood it with wings, or let a solitary beauty take flight.

With two minutes, this snapshot went from dull to (I dare to say) entirely fabulous. Just imagine what could be achieved in five, maybe ten! Professional results with amateur time investment.
