Tired of YouTube Shorts? Here’s How to Disable Them on Desktop and Android

They are a bit-sized entertainment on YouTube Shorts that can become so addicting and cause you to never stop scroll, even though it’s an endless loop of unending fun. They don’t also help them appear everywhere on the platform, from your home feed to your search results. Here is the way to disable Shorts on desktop and Android if you are tired of seeing them?

Keep Shorts Out of YouTube Search Results

For most searches right now, the best results are shorts and can be very annoying when you just look for long-form videos. Shorts are a tool that you hate, but because they’re taking over search results. If you dislike Short and don’t like them, then what is the best way to remove them?

The YouTube has recently launched a new filter to remove Shorts from search results, which will help rid of the filters that have been introduced by YouTube. Their home feed or the dedicated Shorts section, will still show them on your Home feed but are safe for searches. Here’s how to filter them out.

Search for something on YouTube and click the Filters button. Video is selected here under the Type section of , below. The results will reload and delete all videos from the results, which is .

The YouTube mobile app follows the same process as on its own application. If you search something and then use the Search filters from the dots menu in the top-right corner of the , which is a key part of this search. Alternatively, select Video under Type and apply the filter now.

Just keep in mind that this is still rolled out and may not be available to you, depending on your area of the country.

Disable YouTube Shorts on Desktop

You don’t want to see Shorts at all on YouTube. Google doesn’t provide such a feature built in the YouTube video but it will require you to use if you have opted for an extension of third party extensions for YouTube, which means that shorts are not available directly from YouTube or is currently being played by YouTube users? Many YouTube extensions block Shorts, but we recommend Youtube-shorts block as it’s the easiest to use and is available for Chrome and Firefox.

In default, the extension forces Shorts to play as normal landscape videos by default and prevents users from doomscrolling. To completely block Shorts, click on the extension icon and open the dots menu to complete a Block. For example, enable the hide “shorts” tab and horse shorts video options here.

Shorts will be removed from the home feed, its tab in the left panel and even from search results when it is inserted into the extension. Nevertheless, in the case of search results, you may see Shorts for a second or less before they are deleted.

Disable YouTube Shorts on Android

This is slightly different on Android as you can’t use a third-party tool to change official YouTube app features. Hence, your best bet is to use workarounds that usually aren’t so smooth as just blocking Shorts in the YouTube app. On Android phones, you can indirectly remove Shorts from YouTube on the below.

Use the No Shorts App to Block Shorts

For those who want to remove Shorts for the sake of their addictive nature and how they can cause endless scrolling, the No ShortS app will be enough for you if you are interested in them. Shorts can be blocked by this app, which does not allow you to open them. Shorts will still be visible and you can interact with them, but when you open one it will automatically close.

In a supported app (including YouTube) it does this by using the accessibility permission to monitor when you open’short video’ and immediately closes it down in an immediate application (such as YouTube). It’s just launching the app, giving it accessibility permission and turning on Shorts. We opened Shorts back-toback in our tests, and it closed all of them immediately before they even became full screen.

Keeping in mind that accessibility permissions allow apps to see and interact with your screen, which is inherent risk when enabled. There is no Shorts app that says it only tracks specific package names and text to detect and close Short, but the risk is there.

Use a Third-Party YouTube Client That Blocks Shorts

Shorts are blocked from appearing in the YouTube interface if you want to block Short, then you have to use a third-party YouTube client that blocks Short. We recommend New Pipe for this, a privacy-focused alternative that also has additional features like playing videos in the background.

Since it is not on the Google Play Store, you’ll have to first enable app installation from unknown sources in your Android phone. Then download New Pipe from the official website and install it (you can also get it in F-Droid).

Default default in it allows for shorts to be enabled, so you’ll have to disable them first. If you turn on its Settings from the main menu, go to Content **Channel tabs*** and uncheck the **Shorts* option. Shorts tab and Short, both of which are removed from the Home feed by this will be deleted. But they may sometimes appear in search results for s, but are still a part of the list.

In addition to these, some users also reduce Shorts by marking them as “Not Interested” in order to train their recommendations. If Shorts are causing phone addiction, then try this trick to stop phone abuse with grayscaler.
